Please join me in this conversation with Mr Frankie McDonald. Hi, I'm Bri vy, and this is why we work and I have the wonderful pleasure of speaking today with Mr Frankie McDonald. Good Day, Frankie, I'm doing great so far. You're doing great so far, Frankie. I just said thank you for doing this. You, my friend, are very busy. Yes, I'm very busy doing weather reports lately because at that hurricane lower headed towards western Luisiana, Texas border. Not only are you busy doing weather reports, you message me now and said I'm done my other interview. I'm ready now. You know, I done my interview with it Dark Mail podcast. That, Frankie, you're so busy. So, Frankie, can you give a little, a little introduction from your perspective of what it is you do? What do you do in your in your work that means? And as for weather reports, on my youtube camel I do my weather reports and I warn people getting ready for storms and things like that. So on your in your bio, it says you're an amateur meteorologist. I'm an amager meter round justis professionals needed to greet me. Amateurs don't. But I mean I could look at many professionals and you have a lot of following. You have a lot of people. Were SA clear friend water network and Jim can't torn from the water channel in the states. Last time I was talking to Jim can't urn on the phone, that was two thousand and fifteen and and you have bigger following than them. So I think you're right up there. You're along the same line. And I just check to his twitter account. Jim can't torn has well over a million followers. Only have hundred twenty two thousand follower worse. Well, he got way more followers. To me that that's true. I guess he does. Frankie, can we go back, because this is this podcast, is why we work, so why we do the things that we do. And you were messaging me and telling me you want to talk about your younger years, your childhood years. Frankie, when did you start maybe working or doing some things on your own out of...

...your own motivation? How old were you when you start it? That means when I was little taller and went women biking, run and jog and things like that. Swing on this wing, things like that. When I was a little taller, high graduated from City Academy High School, and you're two thousand and Fort then then on deseven twenty seven two thousand and seven, I did it very first feel the scenery did. On He saiver sixteen, two thousand and nine, I did it very first video of myself on my own YouTube channel, flight nine night. That doesn't exist anymore. On Joe Eights Two Thousand and ten, I upload my video severe earthquit point for calfaries stamever two thousand and ten. Two days later my video went viral from the first time ever. Back then I didn't know how to ignore all trolls and I got six hundred fifty thou views and one in few days and I had to delete my old video. I had to delete my old youth channel back then and I they saw ignore all rolls. Back then I learned my nest and blessing. Now I ignore trolls now and I made tosh WYNOC's two episode thirteen. I opened up my new youthub channel on June thirty two thousand and eleven. So the trolls you're talking about avoiding an understanding trolls. So what they are probably just not very caring and not very kind. Is that what you expect? As they don't know any better those trolls. They don't know any better at all. Okay, so when you were just before you graduated in high school, did you work at all? Did you have any other job before starting the weather then reports? That being said, a New Year two thousand and two, I was at a job at that has. I had a volunteer work experience that the has a rolling lanes. That doesn't ext to this anymore. They tore that billy down. Then I started maintenance at the May Fire Mall November two thousand and two. Why did you get periods? Nice started on a pay road two thousand and five after that and I worked at the Be Fire Mall Maintenance Department before I started doing my youtube videos. So, Frankie, why did you so when you started your maintenance job or in the bowling alley? Why? Why did you go out and work? What? What got you out of the House to start something on your own? I mean said when I was in high school they had a program is called volunteer work experience. Why did you do it? All right too, because of program that all of people in my class that it did it very good. So you were doing it on your own. You wanted to just try something different. That was your motivation? It wasn't. It wasn't for mercy. Before I do my weather reports, I was clean floors, cleaning windows, things. I get to make fire mall in two thousand and two, two thousand three, in a hallways, in a wall. Then I had to clean the windows and things like that. Then in two thousand and nine I to do a lot of sanitizing for the a one and once wine flew pay. Then, back then it wasn't, as Batts covid nineteen, and and it marks two thousand and twenty. I got laid off because of the COVID nineteen thing. So what made you do your very first video on Youtube? What what made you pick up your phone and say I'm going to video tape myself? What was your reasoning for the were you in my very the very first video of the scenery is with the digital camera. That was on decever twenty seven, two thousand and seven, and I'm let to say decever sixteen two thousand and I I had my video camera with the tape like dv. It's like a small Ottle FC are like thy and I just took a video of my soulf first time ever at never parking appear when I open my video dwindows, fist to laptop. You had to have firewire back then. They didn't have USB yet. They had use a firewire to transfer the video from the video cassette in the video cameras, I. A DV, mini cassette, and toward laptop. Before you press record on your video camera. Were you doing this at home to like were you? Were you into the weather? Were you looking at me? It's on my on the old...

...fashioned video camera. Before I did severe earthquake corning for California September two thousand and ten. That's just press the video the press the record button on the DV. It's like a tape thing. High Deaf and didn't had high definition videos yet on my youtube fail. So what? What? What directed you towards weather? Why? Why are you? Why do you like weather so much? Because, and I watched the weather on TV when I was a little boy. I did a lot of weather on television and I was watching weather on television and I just I ferry. First I did if studying the my the weather models, for first time ever in March two thousand and seven. What, Frankie, what amazes you about the weather. So when we see things like typhoons and storms and hurricanes, and what do you what do you like the most about the weather? What what fascinating? Bad weather, all kinds of bad water all over the world. And when a typhoon high and hit Phil Things I wore. Those people get them prepared back then. Do you do you like the weather? Do you like like, Oh, it's interesting to see a storm. Do you like to see a typhoon? Do you like to see? You see a typhoon? When a headed towards Philippines and head towards Okawok at Japan in July two thousand and fourteen, a lot of people took it seriously. When a Tyfon they hit punken walk at Japan. is they're very powerful, aren't they very powerful? Just like I did it. Major Blizzard hit Wisconsin on December Nike Two Thousand and twelve. I got so many views I'm wanting to trail just like a winning pake major snow for no fember two thousand and twelve, like a major blizzard hit winnipake Manitoba. I'm day before remember say two thousand and twelve, just like I did a video called Denver, called mass of Blizzard, then of Colorado in late October. Two Thousand and eleven, Frankie, what is your favorite weather? What like? So I like I love summer days. I remember a summer day. Some people go for walk down a boardwalk and things like that. I take videos of myself. What I warned those people for their area. What is a big snow storm headed for somebody else? What is what is the scariest weather that you you don't like to be out in? What is it? What kind of weather do you not like to be out in? Lizards, hail, storms, things like that. Large Hail, and hail can bounce offing my mom, one wife, and blizzard can't. You can't even see everything. So say have to stay indoor and please to tell people not to go tide the blizzard. It's me too, and and you live. I live in I lived in Nova Scotia and we have lots of blizzards. So they're pretty hard and very cold and pretty nasty. Before the covid nineteen, kind of when I was at the bar, if it's rained a lot, I had to get a taxi home. When I was at the Bar Day a party and before the covid that means I got a taxi over dulies to sitting or the seel city Ordo. Try and go because weather's too bad, walk like I wings. Have you raint highways can damage umbrella? Absolutely. So, Frankie, you have obviously become very popular with your weather forecasts. Yeah, how how are you able to push away, you know, push away the trolls? Push away, you know, I've asked you a few times we've been talking, but I S. we're all trolls. Don't think the trolls. They get Frankie defense teams on instagram. Now you got Frankie, the defense team, the fight against rolls. That's that's wonderful. Frankie, how how do you you grew up? Where is it? You grew up in Whitney pier. When you peer Nova Scotia, I grew up, I was born and raised in City Nova Scotia, in witny peer area. So you come from a very quiet town. Yes, it's very you know. Yes, small and quiet, and on facebook or on instagram or in your youtube or twitter, you're very big. So how do...

...you deal with lots of people trying to message you and trying to get your attention. How do you mean trolls? I tore all back rolls and negative people all the time and and I just come up with my own ideas. I do comedy videos as well, like guy try see fifty hot dogs and wants. I up on the video I made twenty one two thousand and twelve. In December two thousand and fifteen I did a guy try see fifty sausages at once. Into Tember two thousand and fifteen I did a guy try see fifty tackles and once I did a guy dance and being chased by dogs and two thousand and fourteen I had to. I did a video a guy dance and in rainy Tacos, things like that. That's a comedy video I did. And I also did a guy dance of being chased by aliens in two thousand and sixteen. So you're keep creating thing. So you're from what I know. Also, you're not only doing comedy in weather reporting, but you also have a book. My focus be prepared to frank out guy to life, whether and everything is published. By name. Is Publishing at Halifax nose. Kosha Sarah Salaries a person work way book. She's the CO author my book be prepared, Frank Out guy to life whether and everything. She started writing my own booking through that late two thousand and seventeen. You gotta finish in two thousand and eighteen. It has forty eight pages f childhood pictures and me and things like that. And you have you mentioned you have a bubble head, a Bible ahead of me and I can to show you something at Frankie Doll Babwe, designed by Nashal Ball with how thing. Here I am Phil Skylar, designed to talk and, frank doubt, bowhead at the national ballas halving. I got another think. Frankie says be prepared t shirts and shirts from the Ocot Quality Company and Halifax, Nos Kochia and Ben Campbell. He lives in big spring, Texas. He designed the Frankie McDonald action figures. Yes, I was just going to say you have a new action action figure. Did that come out recently? In two thousand and eighteen, bank Campbell sell a lot of it and he told me three hundred Frankie action figure Soldo within a month. In Two Thousand and twenty I'm sure you're going to see Hound Frank mcgel action figure sold. So Frankie, what do you like the most about about your twitter, your facebook, the attention, the action figures, the close what do you and doing? The weather reports? What do you like doing the most? I go to weather report, especially bad weatherheaded for Dair area, when when I'm bored, I come up with my ideas with my comedy videos. So your weather reports, so you do mostly Nova Scotia, but I know you're doing other places. I know mostly weather reports holocross Wisconsin, Minnesota, north Dakoda, Sol Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri and all these places in Iowa and Illinois and Indiana and Ohio, things like that. In California, Washington, Oregon and all those places, and Alaska, Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and New Mexico, Arizona, in the Vada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana. So you do all of the states as well. So, yes, what I do what a reports from England, Australia, New Zealand. Plus I did a hurricane dry to hit Nova Scote on Saturday September seven, two thousand and nineteen. I shot shoot the video myself using my motphone on September one two thousand and nineteen. I hope the video on September...

...first, two thousand and nineteen I defeated Donald Trump by writer hurricane and I absolutely got it right. That's wonderful. So you know I'm in South Korea. Will you maybe start doing some weather reports for South Korea? Yes, I did some self Korea weather reports before it as well. Did you already? I asked you at the beginning, because we have a typhoon coming. So maybe you can give us a little a little warning for I want everyone to stay away from the beaches and don't go near shores. And South Korea, especially on the west coast of soult Korea and Sol salt quis, can't get a lot of rain. Make sure every I'm gravis right, every rge just gets medical kids, flashlights, candles, ex botery, Shanery, is, Babria cu great advantages and follow water ready as well. When the type gets really bad. Get inside of your host don't quote side, stay away from each is a. don't go near your shores. Frankie, have you ever been contacted by because I know your videos. You'll say, be prepared, get your cocacola. Yeah, yeah, see prepared. That's my primary catch price and mightel catch prices. Don't let your guard, keep your guard up and in when you mentioned Cocacola, has cocacola ever reached out to you? Not yet. Pepsi never resulted me yet. I think a commercial from actonal water group in two thousand sixteen. In the year two thousand and eighteen, I did it, and tool radio commercials, one with a Halifax cur late to car seals and Halifax and not a car stereos and St John Mw Brunswick and a great Canadian dollar store TV commercial in two thousand and eighteen. Thanky, you're killing it. You are working. Do you have a team? Do you have people there that help you as well manage your schedule and help you, because I couldn't be working on it. That needs free. So now be going on in world where I'll be going to every single country on the entire facebook player. Now'll we gave no speeches. I'll be dancing on stage of women, I'll be doing common skips on stage and thing which people like to pay at the box office go see me on stage, and then I'll be traveling to every country in the world. So many people who go see me. Frankie, what is what is hard about what you do? Because you're busy, you have a lot. I mean, Frankie, I wanted to talk to you for a while, several years actually, because I remember when you first started and being from Nova Scotia, and I commend you. You are working. I didn't realize how much you are working. What is what is hard about some of the things that you do? Not even the trolls. That's understandable. But what might be a little difficult? It might even only be a small thing, like scheduling or something. What is doing to schedule a days? Could be a weather and could be definitely could be difficult schedule. Could be conflicts when you go to show movie. Theaters Watch movie are hockey game and weather reports, like the interference means it's sometimes there's two different internet regal shows. Interference. Have the reschedule it and that's hard. Yeah, that's a little disappointing. What do you like the most? Like? I know you you like doing your weather pot your weather reports, but what what do you find? What do you like about all of the how you both say people's live follow the world, even in countries that Don'd speak English, saving people's lives around the world and preparing them. Yes, that's pretty amazing, Frankie, and I really want to I'm not done, but I really want to thank you for all of your hard work. I mean, coming from Whitney Pier, Sydney, Nova Scotia, and you're only young, Frankie, your only one, very, very stiflorn honey for fourth nine eighty four. You're from a small town, you're working, you're representing Nova Scotia, Can Nada? Right? You're representing yeah, well,...

...and means I was on CBC debaters in June Two Thousand and nineteen house saying few words, performing with a lot of people for CBC debaters and June two thousand and nineteen. So I want to thank you for your hard work, Frankie. I'm sure lots lots of people thank you, but thank you because you're you're an inspiration. You help people realize that you work so much, then someone else can work a little bit more. So I truly appreciate all that you're doing, and you're doing you're bringing something positive and I like how you say don't even pay attention to the trolls, people that say something bad. It's very good what you're doing. I really want to commend you and thank you for all of all of your hard work. It's wonderful. Thank you, Frankie, but I'm not I'm not quite done yet. Frankie, do you have any you work so much, but some people work very little or they don't work. Sometimes they're sad right, sometimes they're depressed. They're sad and I read it there's a lot of bad guys on red shared things. Those guys on ready there's always in their computers all day. They don't want to go they don't go outside. They they uncle the Leech. In Summer Times. There's always on the computer all time, those guys, I read it, some of the lot of lombards. Can you imagine the summertime and not wanting to go to the beach? I love the beach. How could someone not want to go to the pinet? Not Those guys on ready not want to go to beach. They say that stuffable famous people. Things like that. I said I'm open things like that. Those bad guys are saying that. It's not true. Those are the shies. Don't know what you're saying. I'm ready. Those are guys who on the computers all time there on, ready with the lung beards. But if, if we have a message for them, Frankie, not not about the bad things that they might say, but we want to encourage some people to try to work a little harder. Do you have a message guys? What do you like to do to take a break and in rest from your work? I watch TV and lady and things like that. Yeah, yeah, do you like to go to the beach to and just relax and not and put away your phone? Some people throughout the phone stay don't want to get their front room twomen because it because said waters not going for the circuit boards and processors and computer parts and things like that. In Korea, here a lot of people now have there's a phone bag so they can take their phone in the water with them. It's kind of a new little invention. They don't have to. They can it in any United States or Mexico. That's Interesting Korea. Korea with Samsung telephone is huge and new. At the beach and at water parks, most people carry their phone so they can take pictures in the water. It's pretty. It's pretty underwater pictures. Frankie, everyone has a difficulty in life.
